To enter the Bachelor’s degree program, you must have acquired a diploma of secondary education which gives you access to university level higher education in your home country. You are not expected to have prior knowledge of classical languages.
…of a Bachelor’s degree
Academic Bachelor in theology or religious studies
If you have an academic Bachelor’s degree (university education) in theology or religious studies, it will be assessed by the administrative committee. If your Bachelor’s degree is equivalent to an ETF Bachelor’s degree, you can immediately proceed to the Master’s degree program. If there are any deficiencies, an additional custom-made package is compiled for you of a maximum of 18 credits, in order to assure an easy transition to our Master’s program. Courses from the additional package and Master courses can be followed simultaneously.
Professional Bachelor in theology or religious studies
If you have completed a professional Bachelor’s degree (non-university level higher education) in theology or religious studies, you can apply for the Master’s degree program in theology and religious studies. A linking program ensures that you can make the transition.
Non-theological academic Bachelor
If you have a non-theological academic Bachelor’s degree, you can apply for our Master’s degree program. A preparatory program ensures that you can make the transition. .
Non-theological professional Bachelor
If you have a professional Bachelor’s degree (non-university level higher education) not in the field of theology or religious studies, you can apply for our Bachelor’s degree program in theology and religious studies. It is possible that you will be given exemption for a number of courses.
…of a Master’s degree
Academic Master in theology and religious studies
If you hold a degree from a one-year academic Master’s program (university education) in theology or religious studies, you are eligible for intake on our two-year Master’s degree program. Depending on the correspondence, you will be granted partial or full exemption from the first year of the Master’s program. For graduates from the Freie Theologische Hochschule in Gießen, a study package of 60 credits has been established. If you hold a degree from a two-year academic Master’s program (university education) in theology or religious studies and have achieved excellent results, you can apply for our PhD program.
Professional Master in theology and religious studies
If you hold a degree from a professional Master’s program (non-university level higher education) in theology or religious studies, you can apply for our Master’s degree program. A linking program ensures that you can make the transition. It is possible that you will be exempt from a number of courses. Specific agreements have been made with different institutes for theological education abroad for a smooth transition.
Non-theological academic Master
If you have a non-theological academic Master’s degree, you can apply for the Master’s degree program. A preparatory program ensures that you can make the transition. It is possible that you will be exempt from a number of courses.
