Faith in Children and Youth: Learning by Doing
‘Geloof bij kinderen en jongeren: learning by doing’ (Faith in Children and Youth: Learning by Doing) is one of three inspiring courses offered (in Dutch) in ETF’s Summer Colloquium, scheduled August 22–27, 2022. This international study week includes lectures, various workshops and times for meeting and reflection, and is open for any academic scholar.

Pastors and youth workers in churches, teachers in Christian education, faithful parents: all try in their own way and from their own responsibility to support children and young people in their faith development. They do this from the awareness that there is something to learn: faith develops, individually and in community, and upbringing, education and child and youth work supports that development. But what is the relationship between faith and learning? This summer colloquium will reflect on this question from recent practical theological research.
This course is organized in cooperation with PThU Amsterdam/Groningen.
Dr. Ronelle Sonnenberg is assistant professor of Practical Theology/ Youth Ministry at the Protestantse Theologische Universiteit, Amsterdam.
Prof. Dr. Jos de Kock is professor of Practical Theology at the Evangelische Theologische Faculteit, Leuven.
Both teachers of this summer course are involved in the Research Platform Youth Ministry and Religious Education Flanders and The Netherlands.
