Study day: ‘The Relationship Between Church and State: From the Old Testament to the Future’
Location : ETF Leuven
Language : Dutch
On June 19 at 3:00 p.m., Prof. Geert Lorein will deliver his Emeritus lecture at ETF Leuven, titled ‘De verhouding tussen Kerk en Staat: van het Oude Testament tot morgen’. In the run-up to this Emeritus lecture, ETF Leuven is organizing an academic study day on the same theme. The study day will feature specialists from Prof. Lorein’s extensive network (a classicist, professor of Old Testament, and former co-chair of the ARPEE), who are cordially invited to discuss related questions from their own fields of expertise.
There will be room for both biblical-theological reflections on forms of government and the handling of religious diversity, as well as for church and legal-historical considerations regarding “Christian” nation-building and for contributions on the Belgian church-state model of today and tomorrow.
The seminar will take place in a relaxed setting and, in addition to six short substantive presentations, will also provide space for open, interdisciplinary discussion.
This study afternoon will be held in Dutch. For more information, we therefore refer you to the Dutch-language section of our website.
