Summer Colloquium
Every year, during the third week of August, the ETF Leuven organizes one or more Summer Colloquia. An ETF Summer Colloquium is an inspiring, international study week at academic level about a theme at the intersection of theology, Church and society. Besides lectures by a specialist in the field, there is ample opportunity for meeting, reflection, a workshop or excursion and a visit to Leuven. The morning devotions are led by members of the ETF staff.
ETF Open University students follow a number of ETF Summer Colloquia as an obligatory part of their curriculum. Students from other universities and all who have gained an academic degree are also most welcome. An ETF Summer Colloquium is an ideal week for pastors, teachers and staff members of (Christian) organizations who want to gain further training or be inspired. The ETF Summer Colloquium is one of the recognized courses of ‘continuing education’ of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands (PKN).
During the ETF Summer Colloquium, the language of communication is English. The course are given at the level of Bachelor 3/Master 1. For an ETF Summer Colloquium, you can receive a credit certificate for 5 credits. Participants are sent an extensive syllabus in advance with detailed information about the contents and assignments in preparation for the week. A concluding examination is planned at the end of the week. It is also possible to follow the colloquium as an auditor.
During the week, participants can make use of the facilities of the Leuven Centre for Christian Studies (guest rooms and meals).
