The faculty of Theology of the VU University Amsterdam and the Evangelische Theologische Faculteit (ETF) in Leuven have agreed to closer cooperation in research and doctorates in the coming years.
This week the institutions signed the agreement during the 25th doctoral colloquium that was held at the ETF. According to the rector of the ETF, Prof. Dr. Patrick Nullens, this is an important step in the development of the ETF: "In Flanders we as a Protestant institution have few natural partners to cooperate with in the fields of theology and religious studies. In the past we have had experience with cooperation across national borders for example by participating in the Netherlands School for Advanced Studies in Theology and Religion and that’s been a positive experience. By collaborating with the VU Amsterdam, we have a solid partner with an excellent record in research."
Prof. Dr. Wim Janse, dean of the faculty of Theology of the VU Amsterdam adds: "We are impressed by the improvement in quality that the ETF has made in recent years. In the ETF, we see a natural partner in securing traditional theology in the Dutch language area. At the same time, the alliance embeds the ETF in a comprehensive university through which links with other disciplines can easily be established."

There are no translations available. ETF will offer a Summer Colloquium for the first time, this summer from August 16 - 23. This week is part of the ETF Open University, a part time variant of our accredited Masters program through distance education.
This week contains lectures by Bruce Hansen, chapel services, workshops. The Summer Colloquium is obligatory for ETF Open University-students, but other students of the Masters program and alumni are also warmly invited to participate in this Summer Colloquium.
The idea of the Summer Colloquium is an intensive one-week course (a workload equivalent to 5 ECTS). This year, Dr. Bruce Hansen will give a series of lectures on Galatians, complemented with other activities including moments of networking and fellowship. Dr. Hansen taught this course on Galatians before at Fuller Theological Seminary. In the near future he will be involved at ETF. Apart from his teaching experience, he has been involved in the IFES student movement for many years. We plan to make this a very exciting opportunity to learn, enjoy the community with each other and deepen our spiritual growth. Because we want to encourage the contact between our residential and distance-learning students and alumni we warmly invite you to take part in the colloquium. Alumni will receive a grade sheet. If you rent your room throughout the summer, you only pay a tuition fee of € 150 (including 3 meals a day). Apart from that there are some scholarships of € 51 available for full time students – meaning a total fee of only € 99! You can email your registration to

George and Dora Winston fund
ETF hopes to welcome more Flamish students next school year and therefore Flamish students in Bachelor-1 can can apply for a scholarship of the George and Dora Winston fund. ETF hopes to educate Flamish students, who are enthousiastic about their Lord and about Flanders.
The ETF program is international, with students from Belgium, Holland, Germany, Eastern Europe and Africa. But first of all the ETF is a Flamish institution, with a calling for Flanders. Therefore ETF finds it important to receive more Flamish students in her programs. Especially in Belgium where many people do not know God, the ETF wants to support evangelical congregations.
Students who receive support from the Flamish governement receive 750 euro from the fund, which means they only pay 350 euro as a tuition fee for the first year at ETF. Other Belgian students recieve 350 euro from the fund, which means they only pay 750 euro as a tuition fee for the first year at ETF.
You can support the work of ETF and especially the Belgian students. Gifts for the ETF and for the George and Dora Winston fund are tax deductable. |
